Who We Are

Jill Cooper served Beth David Reform Congregation with distinction as its Executive Director for almost two decades until her retirement in December 2025. She is privileged to remain on as a board member of the Friends of the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetery, and has served since its inception in 2011. She has watched with pride as Har Hasetim Cemetery evolve from an overrun, abandoned cemetery into an historical property well on its way to becoming a restorative sanctuary. Jill lives in Bryn Mawr, PA, and her son and his family live in Brooklyn, New York.

Josh Millman and his family have been members of Beth David Reform Congregation for almost 10 years and he was a member of the synagogue board for 5 years. Josh has worked in the life insurance industry for more than 23 years with carriers, technology providers, startups and distributors.

Participating on the cemetery board was something that Josh is particularly excited about because of its historical significance and because of the connection that benevolent societies have to the underlying concept of shared risk, community, and protection. All of this ties directly to the core function of life insurance and it felt like a natural fit to participate in carrying on the legacy of the cemetery as a board member and volunteer.

The Millmans have been living in Narberth since 2012.

Before his recent retirement, Dennis Montagna directed the National Park Service’s Monument Research & Preservation Program, which provided comprehensive assistance in the interpretation and care of historic cemeteries, outdoor sculpture, and public monuments to constituents nationwide. Dennis holds a Ph.D in Art and Architectural History from the University of Delaware with a specialty in American Sculpture. He also studied Architectural Conservation at ICCROM in Rome, Italy, and in subsequent years returned to Rome as a course instructor. He is immediate past President of the Association for Gravestone Studies and is a member of the Lower Merion Historical Society’s governing board. Dennis joined the Friends of the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetery Board of Trustees in 2025.

Elliot Rosen has been an active volunteer and leader in his Jewish community, nationally and internationally, for almost sixty years. He has taught and lectured at seminaries, colleges, Jewish federations and organizations and synagogues. He is a licensed funeral director and has worked at Joseph Levine & Sons for 40 years. He lives in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Maxine, of 60 years. They love to hike, travel and enjoy time with their three married children and five grandchildren. Elliot has been an athlete most of his life and is an avid sports fan.

Neil Sukonik is one of the founding members of the Friends of the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetery, where he served as its Board President for more than a decade. He is currently a managing owner of Camp Canadensis, an overnight summer camp located in the Poconos, and recently retired from Sukonik Building Companies, homebuilders for nearly 70 years. Neil and his family are still active members of their temple, Beth David Reform Congregation, where Neil once served as a Vice President.
